I couldn’t agree more with Councilwoman DeLeon and Councilman Price in saying the proposed way-too-expensive animal shelter should NOT be build at Clapp Park in Central Lubbock. The cat and dog slaughterhouse needs to be built north of town away from folks that don’t literally want that in their back yard. Imagine if the City announced they were looking at a site inside say, Lakeridge? Don’t think that’d get too far.
Anyhow, the City of Lubbock needs to get out of the pet adoption business. The City’s job is to keep streets safe from feral cats and loose dogs. Let PetSmart sale dogs and cats. If your dog or cat gets out, and the City gets it, you got three days and then the City puts it down. That might get the attention of folks that aren’t mature and responsible enough to have pets in the first place.
