1. With Brett Favre the Green Bay Packers win 11 games this year. Without Brett Favre Green Bay wins six or seven and looks for a new General Manager and will be minus one fan in West Texas.

2. The Media picked Texas Tech right where they should have in the Big 12 South this year: third, behind Texas. Until the Red Raiders prove it on the field I’ve got no problem with drunken sportswriters and air-headed TV boys voting for laundry down in Austin.

3. Lubbock needs a six million dollar animal shelter less than it needs a six million dollar visitor center . . . let’s be honest, why should a place designed mainly to kill dogs and cats cost as much as a Jody Nelson house?

4. Greg Norman should have married Chris Evert a long time ago. This has nothing to do with golf by the way.

5. Proof that Lubbock’s economy is better than the country as a whole: Starbuck’s Coffee is staying open here. http://www.lubbockonline.com/updates/test/update1.shtml Of course the story goes on to point out that people in Plainview are some of the smartest in Texas because they’re not dumb enough to pay that much for coffee.
