LUBBOCK, JUST SAY NO TO EARLY VOTING!
Good morning West Texans and all you good, fine, friendly folks out there who wish you were . . .
SAY NO TO EARLY VOTING
With Lubbock’s early voting period starting yesterday I thought I’d start my campaign up to end that practice again. I think early voting has become far too prevalent in American politics for no real reason other than convenience. There’s a reason the Constitution sets a specific date to vote for President and the same should apply for local races as well.
My main problem with early voting is that you can’t take back your vote if you learn something new about the candidates in the final weeks or days of an election. Just this morning on KFYO 790 AM’s debate featuring the four candidates for Mayor current Mayor David Miller solemnly intoned that voters should wait a few days to vote because, “more was coming out” on certain issues. Maybe there will be news and maybe there won’t be news that benefits David Miller and makes the other candidates look bad. I do agree with his sentiment that voters should wait until the campaigns are completely over before they cast their ballot.
So this time I’ll agree with the Mayor and encourage Hubbaplexans to wait to vote till Election Day. You never know what you might learn in the next few weeks and you owe it to the process to make the best decision you can with all the facts you can glean about the candidates.
MORE LATER.

Early voting? Why, hell no !! My wife and I are going to the poll early Saturday morning to vote, and we’re both gonna be dressed as CAVE people.

I always say vote early and vote often. And in this mayoral race I say vote for “none of the above”.
Now, I know that such campaigns have been run before but Hyatt, you’ve never led such a campaign and therefore one has never been successful.
So how ’bout it. Can we start calling you the “NOTA” campaign manager?
