Good morning West Texans and all you good, fine, friendly folks out there who wish you were. . .
5 THINGS WE KNOW ON A FRIDAY 4.25.8
1. The proposed Lubbock Visitor Center will never see the light of day as approved by the council yesterday. Much like the red-light camera issue, the next council will listen to the people of Lubbock and reduce the VC in price and scope and make it something the will benefit all of Lubbock.
2. Here’s a transcript from the next Lubbock City Council meeting:
“In vino veritas.”
“Age quod agis.”
“Credat Judaeus Apella, non ego.”
“Iuventus stultorum magister.”
“ In pace requiescat.”
3. Adam “Pac-Man” Jones will never play a down for the Dallas Cowboys. Do you really think he can stay out of some sort of trouble between now, the time he applies for reinstatement with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and then Dallas first game? Jones doesn’t run with the wrong crowd, he is the wrong crowd.
4. With Dallas Mavericks’ owner Mark Cuban learning that it is easier being Dan Snyder than Jerry Jones when it comes to throwing money around and winning championships, look for Mavs coach Avery Johnson to be out of work in two weeks. Now that Larry Brown has left the 76’ers http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3365485 can’t you just see Cuban standing at the podium with Brown announcing that a team as old and tired as the Mavs needs a coach that fits that description as well?
5. If you get the chance, give Oklahoma Baseball Play-by-Play voice Chuck Kelly a listen this weekend here in the Hubbaplex. He’ll be calling the Sooners-Red Raiders Big 12 series and will have one of those fancy low-power FM transmitters that allows you to listen in at Dan Law Field. If you haven’t heard Kelly before on OU broadcast or metro-plex high school action you’re missing out. Of course after you listen for about five minutes immediately turn your radio back over to SportsRadio 1340 KKAM and the Tech broadcast. I like Chuck, but we can’t be too accommodating now, can we?
