JAN. BIG 12 WOMEN’S BASKETBALL AWARDS

Good afternoon West Texans and all you good, fine, friendly folks out there who wish you were. . .

JANUARY BIG 12 WOMEN’S BASKETBALL AWARDS

Coach of the Month: Deb Patterson – Kansas State. No one, and I mean no one could have predicted the run they’ve been on since the calendar flipped over to 2008. Kurt Budke and Kim Mulkey get runner-up awards, but no one has done a better job than Patterson through one month of play.

Player of the Month: We’ll stay up North and go with Shalee Lehning from K-State. She edged out O.S.U.’s Andrea Riley in head to head play so we’ll give the nod to Lehning.

Game of the Month: Baylor over Ou in Norman 84-83. I didn’t get to see all of it, but I saw enough to know it was time to shut my mouth and go to bed! Runner-up game goes to Kansas State’s win at Oklahoma State. Just a well-played enjoyable game to watch with two good teams playing good basketball.

Best place to eat in the Big 12 this Month: The Little Apple Brewery in Manhattan had a solid Black and Blue salad, but they take the prize for their refreshing beverages, many of which I wish I’d had sometime during the second half of Tech’s game against the Wildcats.

Best Quote of the Month: I have to pass on this one. The best quotes are yet to come from Big 12 Coaches as the season tightens up.

Best Matt Coatney Quote of the Month: “No, that’s ok, I’ll pick-up the check”—Note, there is NO confirmation of this actually happening. . .

I Can’t Believe It Happened Moment of the Month: The entire month for Texas A&M.

Keep sending in your Awards over the weekend and then we’ll get ready to see how things shake out in February.

Thanks as always.

HYATT

  1. Lady Raiders are STRUGGLE-ing…
    to say the least…

  2. Most Disappointing Award:

Kristy Curry and every single Lady Raider

Boy, did we hire the wrong coach. Should have grabbed Gary Blair or Kim Mulkey.

  3. sorry, but I gotta agree. Curry is quickly wearing out her welcome…
